For the Director Series, a final portfolio piece given while completing my M.A. at University of Baltimore, I chose Vincent Minnelli. I love musicals and have been a fan of many of his films. My research included watching  several of his movies and noticing several similar signatures he left within his pictures. Mainly the combined use of red and green. He was known for his use of red; so much so, it would later become known as “Minnelli Red.” I also noticed, red was used to show a change in the main characters emotion, or change of heart in the film and attributed to a big dance number. I took screenshots of the films I wanted to use and traced the images with the Bamboo app. From there I placed my drawings into illustrator and worked on making each character stand out
